This is the world's largest all data network designed specifically for mobile wireless data. The Mobitex towers were purchased by Cingular from Bell South in the late 80's when Bell South was broken into regional companies. It uses a completely different set of towers than Cingular's cell phone and is actually the largest continuous network in the country. Because it is data only, it allows the user to quickly transmit high volumes of data. GPS data does not compete with voice traffic from cell phones like on other networks. It has the largest coverage footprint of any network which is capable of providing cost effective detailed information with 5-minute updates. This is the same system used by Fed Ex, UPS, GE, Time Warner, Bellsouth, Palm, Blackberry and I-Pak to move mobile wireless data.
